Heretical Practice in Practical Life with Ashley Pt. I
In part 1 of my interview with Ashley I discuss my upbringing as the son of renowned pastor Charles R. Swindoll, my childhood amid global fame, engineering career, and 15 years working in my father’s ministry. I detail my 2011-2012 cancer diagnosis as the catalyst that shattered my Christian worldview, leading mr to reject western medicine and conventional answers.
We explore church attitudes toward sickness and prayer, the identity crisis caused by the doctrine of sin, and how it creates separation, shame, and control. I discuss the strain with my father during cancer, the loss being in the circle of Christian trust, and the image of the prodigal son emphasizing love remains.
Ashley shares her own religious background, recent political and spiritual shifts, and how my content dismantled her near-return to Christianity, leaving her in an “open field” after structures crumbled.
