Cancer, Deconstruction, and Leaving Christianity

This is an interview I had with Tim Mills who is the captain of the ship on his channel, Harmonic Atheist. I shares my upbringing in a strict Christian home, conversion by age four, and serving 15 years in ministry with my father. I describe lifelong indoctrination, the theology of sin, salvation, hell, and an imaginary relationship with Jesus, along with the absence of critical thinking and philosophy in the Christian belief system.

A 2012 cancer diagnosis triggered major worldview shifts in my life, and I detail my use of psychology and philosophy—not theology—to deconstruct Christianity, and my alternative naturopathic healing approach. I also cover my engineering background, 33-year marriage to my wife, Jeni, our move from Texas suburbia to a Washington State forest for health reasons, and my current life focused on awareness and expanding consciousness in the collective.

I briefly discusses my book Elucidating Christianity: A Heretic’s Descent, my interests in Formula 1 and gardening, and advice for those leaving a belief system: pursue self-responsibility, personal gifts, and heart-led living.
